Natalya, the teacher

My philosophy as a teacher:

Natalya’s work stems from a center of intuition and deep listening – walking the line between fire and water and holding space with softness and compassion as a means to drive her students forward into their practice.

Natalya approaches her teachings with gentleness – a softness for the human experience – emphasizing joy, healing, exploration, and compassion through instruction. She cues classes from the heart — inspiring a sense of trust in oneself and the internal wisdom that arises from curiosity in one’s own body, mind, and spirit. Her classes are intended to expand her students’ awareness, inspire kindness, and awaken them to their own resilience.

She is endlessly grateful to be learning from her experiences, fellow teachers, and students alike. She feels as though true wisdom is collaborative and stems from a diverse set of communities working together and learning from one another.

Ahimsa sits at the center of her work and all other elements branch out from the morals of non-violence. We cannot experience true spiritual liberation unless all beings are happy and free of suffering. The asana cannot free us but it can inspire the wisdom of collective care, action towards justice, and the idea that love is a choice we can make daily.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching a range of minds and bodies. I currently hold space at Baby Cobra Yoga, Daya Yoga, and Alchemia Studio in Brooklyn, NY. I have also taught for Crunch Fitness, The Yoga Trail (Central Park), and have worked one on one with private clients. My trauma informed work has been primarily with Three and a Half Acres where I’ve worked with a range of students in both mat and chair-based classes, including shelters for both adults and LGBTQ youth, local community gardens, Harlem Pride, and more.
